EP1. Bill Morgenstein (Crazy Life of a Kid from Brooklyn)

Revenue Chat with Tony DUrso welcomes Bill Morgenstein, the crazy kid from Brooklyn.

His dream was to play baseball for the world famous New York Yankees, which eventually didn’tget past First Base, as after a military tour in Korea, he got involved in building a multi-million dollar business in all things: women’s shoes. But it didn’t stop there. The author of the popular book, The Crazy Life of a Kid From Brooklyn, which is full of humorous anecdotes and sales lessons, tells u that he owes his success to never pre-judging a sale and tells us a lot more about that next.

BillMorgenstein_COVERAs stated, Bill’s childhood dream was to play baseball for the New York Yankees. He went on to get his bachelors degree in business from the University of Alabama, while playing baseball as often as time permitted. After his degree he served a term in the military in Korea. Afterward, he began working for a shoe company and eventually became the President of the Kitty Kelly Shoe Company running a chain of shoe stores while at the young age of 35.

His new book is best summed up by a recent review from one of his readers:

“When I read his book, I was very touched. His writing is clear, entertaining and funny. I learned so much more about that kid from Brooklyn, couldn’t put the book down. His crazy and beautiful life, his enthusiasm and the will power to keep going, even when anyone will feel that there is no way to keep going, is amazing.”

Highlights:

  • Bill is a “been there, done that” sales and businessman extraordinaire. We discussed many facets of sales and business, such as door to door sales, selling to women, selling to different cultures including very brilliant and ingenious sales actions (10,000 shoes sold in 4 days from one store-no Internet.)
  • Get stories of Pele, Peter Drucker, Sgt. York and more.
  • I still don’t know how he slept all night with a guy standing on his balcony with a machine gun?

Bill was a delight to interview. You gotta check out his book, which I mentioned more about below. A great guy. A great friend. A great interview!

I appreciate your listenership and hearing from you means a lot to me. Feel free to drop me a message.

If you like pleasure reading, and you enjoy zoning into a good read that you cannot put down, check out The Good, Bad and Gold: The Pursuit. This was a labor of love of ten years in the making. I am well into Book 2 (Dark Horizons). I am also working on an Expanded Edition of The Pursuit with a pre-history of the Imen. It’s a work in progress, so let’s see how that all comes together.

If you want to get some of the simplest and easiest basics of sales, then check out Easy Sales Procedures. You’re gonna say, hey, this is so basic…this is too easy… Yeah, well, I get that a lot.–You need the building foundation in place before you add any floors, right? Check it out and let me know how you like it.

If you want some nostalgic reading; if you want to read one of the most craziest stories you ever heard, then you gotta check out: The Crazy Life of a Kid From Brooklyn by Bill Morgenstein.
