Vince Baiera started his career working as an ICU nurse at the Cleveland Clinic and Duke University Hospital in the Cardiac ICU. After working as a traveling ICU nurse, Vince stepped away from nursing to pursue healthcare consulting and teaching. Let’s find out about his latest device to help seniors. Welcome to the show, Vince, so great to have a fellow Italian down with us. Thank you so much for hanging out with us on the Tony Durso Show. Vince: Absolutely Tony, thanks for having me. Tony: Vince, as I probably have told you before, my wife’s been in healthcare for 25 /26 years now and I know a lot of what it takes and it’s quite something to be an ICU RN. I know how busy you get. Before we talk about that and the Step 2Health Brand, let give us your backstory. How did this all start for you? Vince: Wow, I am not one of those people who grew up saying, when I get older I want to be a nurse. Especially growing up as a younger guy in Northeast Ohio, it just wasn’t something that I ever thought about. And it wasn’t until I had an older brother who switched from business to healthcare ( nursing) who made me think, you know, this might be an option that I should consider. So as my parents kind of shed some light on all the benefits and positive aspects of that role, I thought, you know, I don’t have anything else really going that’s I’m so passionate about. I thought, let me give it a shot. And I started my nursing career at a school in Pittsburgh called Robert Morris actually went there on a football scholarship, if you could believe that. So out of all the schools that recruited me, that was the only one that actually had the nursing program and was able to get my career started there and then ultimately moved on to some hospital settings. And I tell you what, working in the ICU, it has its challenges. And it’s funny how many of those skills that you need to build to have a successful career they ultimately translating into other fields, right. At other aspects of your life. But that was how I got my start. I went through nursing school, I had a great experience. Luckily was in and out in four years and moved on to the Cleveland Clinic where I worked in their Cardiovascular ICU. And Tony, I don’t know how much you know about the Cleveland Clinic, but it’s been the number one heart center in the world for over 20 years now. And it was a pretty unique place to work. If you can imagine. And to give you some context, bringing this full circle, but as I left the Cleveland Clinic, I went to Duke University Hospital and other top institution, the year I went to Duke, they were ranked seventh in the country as a heart center. And we led the country in successful lung transplants. So recovering patients right out of the ER excuse me, the OR and recovering them through the critical care stage. Now, when I went to Duke, Duke had one unit that saw all their heart patients and saw all their lung replacement patients. When I was at the Cleveland Clinic, they had five cardiovascular ICUs on its own. So it was a really massive operation. The kind that, yeah, just love to be in as a younger person and absorb a lot of that wisdom because like any job right when you’re just starting, you really don’t know much. And that was how I started my career again at the clinic and then moving down to Duke and living in the Carolinas. And as I kept working I thought, hey, let me take advantage of some of the benefits of moving around the country and doing travel nursing. So as I kept working in different hospital environments, I would get floated to Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU, Surgical, Medical, ER everything. So I’ve been around a good number of years. I saw a lot of different patients, a lot of different issues. Worked in some very challenging units, but I think that foundation has really paid if itself and dividends well over the years. And although I love nursing, you know, I think there was a certain life cycle for me that made it’s smart to probably get out when I did and kind of transfer my skillset and focus to the business side of healthcare. Which I think looking back definitely more in alignment with just kind of myself and how I like to do things. So it’s been an interesting ride, to say the least. It’s brought me around the country and it’s allowed me to meet and help a lot of people and it’s built a great foundation to grow from. So that was how I got my start. Looking back to the college days, years and years ago, Tony: That is quite something Vince. And to work in the top medical facilities in the world and to be in the ICU as an RN, I understand the skillset. I am not in the medical industry, I’ve heard the stories, I know how taxing that can be, how involved, how intensive it is. And to be in those facilities and the ICU nurse, it’s really way up there and then to take it up another notch as a travel nurse where you become an arm; pretty much unless there’s a doctor on the travel, you’re the senior medical authority in the total care of that patient while you’re traveling. Yeah, it is really quite something. So not to be too silly with my Italian, but you got to be pretty good. Vince: Well, I appreciate that and you’re right, when you do travel nursing, you just get thrown into all these different circumstances and I do think it’s important to have a foundation of knowledge before you start doing that kind of work. But yeah, I appreciate it, man. It’s been fun and as I said, I look back at those days and sometimes I really had missed them due to like the three days weekly schedule and other aspects. But at the end of the day, again, I think more along the business side of healthcare is where I belong and where I enjoy making a larger impact. Tony: Vince, I usually don’t tease my guests at all. It’s rare, but because you’re a fellow Italian, I just going to kind of let you have it. You’re an ICU RN, a great career, lucrative I mean this is like really good income. What are you thinking? Why are you switching? Vince: It’s a good question, and when I tell you this story Tony, I think you’ll, you’ll start to understand the bigger picture. One of the things that I really pride myself on is having some patience in regards to how I not only try and execute the day to day task but just bigger picture, right. Rome wasn’t built in a day and when I left nursing, I actually transitioned to teach at a nursing college in Los Angeles called Central Nursing College. It was a one year accelerated LVN school. And while I was teaching, I was doing healthcare consulting on the side, you know, working with individuals and just trying to build a bit of a business doing that. And when I switched out of teaching and moved into business, Tony, first off, it was a new industry. It was a new job doing sales that I technically I’ve never done. So it was a challenge but I started off that first year with the salary living in Southern California of $32,000. Tony: What? Vince: So you can imagine not only was it a leap of faith on my end, but I kind of had to, uh, to eat dirt for a while and you know, not get to go on those cool vacations and not get to have some of those amenities; but really try and build my skill set, build myself back up in a completely new field where I didn’t really have any credentials that folks look to and would see and think of me as a thought leader or anything like that. So it’s been a journey, but all of those things have, you know, as we all say, led me to this point and now looking back I’m in a good spot. I’m really excited and happy about the people we’re serving and the way we’re growing. But, but yeah, I mean when, when I stopped nursing, I went to business, looking back at that I did not make a lot of money. And it was just one of those things that it was just being in an environment to try and build my skills and really buying into that, that mantra of; if I want things to change for me, I’ve got to change and I’ve got to improve and I’ve got to add more skills and more tools to the tool bucket. So, that’s been, it’s been quite a journey. And let me tell you what, when you’re making $32,000 a year, it’s not a lot. Tony: It doesn’t get too into Disney land these days. Vince: It doesn’t let you afford the flyer to look at Disneyland let alone buy tickets to go, so yeah. Tony: With the cost of rent and living out here, 32,000 really is dirt. Now, this is so interesting you went from cushy-cushy big bucks to this, but it was something new for you and you were determined to make it, which you’re now sharing with us. And I very curious from the nurse to a business owner and you’ve commented on this earlier. I want to bring that comment back. You talked about there are some skills that translate well into being a good business owner. I like to know what that is. How did you maneuver excuse me, how did you leverage what you knew into being a great and amazing entrepreneur that you are now? Vince: I appreciate that great and amazing part. I like how you snuck that in there. Tony: Well, you know it’s the Italian thing. Vince: Hopefully everybody heard. But no, I, you know, the thing is I’m going to make a bold statement, Tony and I guess, and you probably won’t believe me or agree with me, but this is the statement. I believe that you could take more nurses and put them in any other role in the workplace and they would have success more so than you could take just about any other, worker in all industries and make them a nurse. And what I mean by that is I believe nurses have an inherent skill set that they practice and build and develop every single day when they’re at the bedside. That greatly transfers to other aspects of not only your day to day life but business life. And I’ll give you some examples. When you’re a nurse, first off, you’ve got to be very attentive to detail. You see a few numbers start to trend a particular way and it should get your brain thinking something’s not right. You know you do an assessment on somebody, you notice the skin tone has maybe gotten a little bit paler and it makes you think something’s not right. What is that? And that attention to detail. You could ask my spouse, she probably gets a little discouraged with it at times because I’ll notice the smallest things, this tiniest imperfection that I feel like let’s focus on this. Let’s devote some attention to this. Let’s find out what we can do to make it better. So that in itself is a great skill set. But as a nurse, you’ve got to have empathy, right? How many times Tony do your business entrepreneur mobiles that you have on the show talk about communication and empathy? Would you, would you say a fair amount? Tony: And not as much as they should. Vince: Okay. And that’s fair. I do know communication. I think any mature business person would argue that communication is really one of the most lucrative skill set you can build in. And being a nurse, you have strong communication skills because one, you’ve got to be a good listener. You’ve got to know what questions to ask and you’ve got to be able to communicate to the patient what’s going on. You got to be able to communicate with empathy to the family. Talk to them, you know, be assertive, but be real with them. You’ve got to be able to articulate what’s going on with that patient really clearly in your notes and to physicians so you can get accurate orders. And then you’ve got to be able to relay everything that’s happened to the next nurse so that way there’s not a gap in their patient’s care and ultimately they’re not having some sort of injury or issue due to your poor communication skill. So I believe communication is one of the greatest traits that being a nurse builds. I also and I really believe that empathy and trying to look at things from the other person’s perspective gives you a great stance in any business conversation. Tony: All right, we’re back on the Tony DUrso Show today’s show with Vince Baiera, creator of the Step 2Health Brand. After stepping away from nursing, Vince moved on to start by Baiera Wellness Products, a Product Development Company as a result of dealing with his own grandparents who struggled with mobility and falls. Vince developed the Step2bed to help solve this problem. All right, and now back to the chat with Vince. Vince: I don’t know Tony about you, but you have those situations and I love to hear from you. You know where something happens right in your day to day life. Maybe, somebody, you work with and they just do something that’s such a knucklehead, bonehead decision that your first instinct is to do what you want to go. Why the heck did you do this and almost rip into them? I mean, do you ever feel that way? Tony: Not Anymore, but I understand. I used to work in corporate America where unfortunately that would sometimes come out sometimes a bit too much. When you’re an entrepreneur and it’s just you and you sub out or you hire out or you bring people in, it’s a little bit different and the culture is different and I love it that way because as an entrepreneur from that side, I believe and I’m not trying to say something wrong, but I believe we treat people better. We appreciate that more because we’re out on our own. That cushy paycheck, that cushy job doesn’t exist anymore. You know, the boss comes in, you know, the boss comes into your office, demand something and he pounds the table, whatever. I’m being a little bit figurative here. Vince: Right Tony: It’s scary because your salary depends on it and you’re just more stress. On the entrepreneur side. It’s you, you create with your hands and it’s just different. Communication is extremely important. Vince: Yup. Tony: I can’t imagine any entrepreneur building a business without having communications skills because I think it’s impossible. Vince: Yeah. Couldn’t agree with you more. And you know, I do believe that through that communication and again, approaching things with empathy where you’re saying, look I noticed that this happened. What happened there? What, tell me what you were thinking and help me understand how you got to that point. Right. It’s purely communication, but it’s again going about it with empathy and trying to allow folks to, you know, state their side of it. And I love that, I guess theory or quote, it’s out of the seven habits of highly successful people and it says, ‘seek first to understand then to be understood.’ And if you can just get that principle right and ultimately keep that as part of your day to day, you’re going to have a huge difference in the way you’re communicating with folks and the results you’re seeing, how excited people are to work with you because they, they aren’t scared of you. They don’t feel embarrassed or like an idiot if something they do isn’t right. So I try and take that approach. I also feel like, you know, going back to your question about nursing and the skill sets when you’re taking care of a patient. And let me paint a picture for you, Tony. I’m working in Las Vegas I’m working at sunrise hospital top hospital in Las Vegas and I get sent to the Trauma ICU. Now we’re taking care of a young woman who in the morning as she left her house, she was completely fine. In the afternoon she gets in a car accident so bad that I’m not exaggerating, it seems like every bone from her toes to feet to her ankle, the upper body through her core, up through her neck and her head gets just destroyed. It gets broken, gets a mangled. And not only does that patient have a life-threatening injury, and I’ll get to how it ends and just a second. But you know, you’re busting your butt on that unit working with another nurse or two or three or four in a room. You’re pushing blood products, you’re dumping fluid on them, you’re running vasoactive drips, you’re starting IV lines. You are maintaining their airway, you’re checking out too, you’re checking all this a million things, right? There are just a million things going on. And I’m sure you can relate as an entrepreneur sometimes we all feel like that, right. There are a million things getting thrown at you. It’s paperwork and its tasks and its jobs and it’s this, and it’s really easy to just get consumed by it. But as a nurse, you kind of get used to dealing with all of those variables getting thrown at you at all the time, and you just kind of always find a way to make it work. And I remember sitting next to the doctor on that unit because after we tried and tried and tried for hours and hours and hours, we knew that, that patient wasn’t going to make it. And what then happened is I sat next to the physician. He called the father, the father answered, he told him who he was, and he says, are you driving? The gentlemen said, yeah. And he says, I think you need to pull over. And he proceeded to tell him about his daughter that she wasn’t gonna make it and that he needed to come down to the hospital. And to have those kinds of conversations, you know, oh, not that one directly with myself, but I’ve had numerous conversations with families where you have to really news like that and it’s just a really difficult situation and there’s just a level of emotional intelligence and where with all that gets built every single day as you deal with those difficult situations in your work and do all those tasks. So that’s why I say it’s a bold statement. I’m sure some of your listeners won’t believe me or agree with me. That, nurses, could make better business owners and do more things than just about any other profession that’s tried to be made into a nurse with some of those skills sets. Tony: Wow. I must say that story sobered me up so much. I hear stories like this from my wife who is in the industry and it’s just so sad when I hear these. It really, really bothers me to hear them, even though I don’t know the person. Vince: Sure. Tony: I just feel connected somehow because it’s another fellow person and I totally understand part of what I brought up at the very beginning with what an ICU nurse does and dealing with that sort of situation. First of all, hats off to you for doing it, having to confront the guts to come shit and the knowledge and expertise because that position and you, you’ve saved so many people, but it’s the fast, quick acting and it’s not being emotional at that time though I do understand on the side, on the backend afterward it can get very emotional depending on what happens, but while you are there in the here and now you guys are just Gung-Ho knocking it out, doing everything you can and that’s, that’s quite something I must say, I must say. I kind of hate to even talk about being an entrepreneur after this because it so it just sobers you up so much because this is the real world. This is the reality but your point, you’ve got that attention to detail. You’ve got that this has to happen, this has happened, this has happened. It’s not a matter of you need your break or you need a drink of water or you need something. You got to do this now, now, now step. I get it because it’s trained in you so well it is core competency as an entrepreneur. Vince: Yeah. No, I’m just going to add onto that. I mean I’ve got to believe that helps to mold, right, you as a business owner or the way you go about things and it starts to develop, you know what some people would refer to as your core competencies, right. What are you good at? What are you better at than anybody else? And I think any challenging situations going to help mold you or help you realize what those are, a lot faster than without going through the struggle. Tony: This is Vince Baiera, creator of the Step 2Health Brand. You can find more about him at step2bed.com that’s the number two step2bed.com is that right, Vince? Vince: That’s correct. Tony: All right, well let’s talk about the Step2bed and the Step 2Health Brand. We’ve been saying this word for the past half hour. So what is the Step2bed and the Step 2Health Brand? Vince: This was my attempt to serve more people and again, working with all those older folks through the years as a nurse and seeing what the alarming false statistics are of seniors and our country and all over the world. And even having my own grandfather multiple grandparents really who struggled with mobility. My grandfather himself, as he got older, he had issues with kidneys, with his heart, with his memory, with Alzheimer’s, and he fell getting in and out of bed. It was just part of it. And sadly, we’re forced to accept that reality. And so many families deal with the hardships that come with these falls. And as I transitioned out of nursing one of the main reasons I did it was to make a bigger impact, right. To work on projects and things that can serve more people. And I started with the Step2bed and the Step2beds is an assist device that goes at the bedside design for seniors to help them reduce the risk of falls when getting in and out of bed. It combines a handrail and adjustable height step, a motion activated light. And believe it or not, Tony, this product never existed completely brand new invented it. We’ve now gotten three patents we’ve got a number of other intellectual property claims pending. And we’re looking to build out the Step 2Health Brand for products focused on seniors that will help them age in place longer and have better wellness over the years. And that’s in short what the product is. And kind of how I brought that to market really based on my own issues. Seeing the problem firsthand with all those seniors over the years, seeing my own grandparents struggle with it and really, again, having the gumption and follow through to not only create it but to get it to market and start selling all over the world. So it’s been an exciting time and we’re pretty excited about the direction we’re going with all the new products that we plan to launch under the Step 2Health Brand. Tony: It’s a great product and I’m surprised that it doesn’t exist. I want to give a little commercial on this to the audience just about everyone listening to this. Now, most of you are entrepreneurs, business owners or upper-level executives, but just about everybody listening has grandparents or elderly parents still around and Vince has this very short, I think it’s about two minutes and change video on youtube on what to do if you fall. I highly, highly, highly advise you to watch that video and show that to the elderly people in your house. It is so short and so simple. It will help them from perhaps a particular if they panic if they fall it helps them get back up. It’s a really great video. Everybody needs to see it. I just wanted to point that out. And it is Vince that does the little how to get up when you fall and it’s very simple. But I must stress have the elderly people in your house see this because it will help them so much and it could reduce so much trouble. Check it out and I know you’re going to love it. Tony: All right, we’re back on the Tony DUrso show today shows with Vince Baiera creator of the Step 2Health Brand. The Step 2bed is his latest device gear to help seniors remain independent longer and reduce the risk of falls in the bedroom. And now back to the chat would Vince. So that’s the step to bed, which is a very great device. Very simple and again, there’s a video on this, on Youtube also. What about the Step 2Health Brand? What other products do you have that help person on this? Vince: Well, right now we’re developing this Step 2tub has a lot of the same functionality, but again, so many folks are forced to get in and out of that bathtub, right. While they’re getting older to do their shower, maybe take a bath and it’s a danger. It’s a fall hazard. And we want to try and just keep adding ways and products that we believe compliment to step to bed. But really the overall mission, right, is to help seniors age longer, age better. So we just started offering a new line of acupressure products, things that seniors can use that would help them alleviate pain as they age. We’re starting to offer a new line of nutraceuticals that will all be under this step to health brand. And we’ve been very strategic about this, Tony. So we’re not just saying, hey, you know, this looks good, that looks good, let’s take it. We’re being very decisive and strategic about the products that we offer. So to give you some context, there were looking at product specifically designed to improve memory, others that are used with folks that have neuropathy. So we’re trying to again, be thoughtful in how we’re adding products and again, trying to just help serve these folks more. So maybe there’s, a situation where you do have an issue getting in and out of bed, but maybe there are other things that you could use that you’re just not aware of. So we just want to bring light to those add value. You mentioned some of those videos. We do a lot of content to our social media pages and a website and youtube. So I encourage folks to search us out there. Most oftentimes found under Step 2bed handle, but we try and add a lot of value upfront and then from there just help people understand the products that we have and the overall mission that we’re trying to accomplish. Tony: Vince, your purpose to help the elderly live better, live longer is going to be and is your success. It is the key to your success. You stay on that purpose and you will help so many people in this step to health brand is, I can see it a huge enterprise for you. Very, very cool on that. Vince: I appreciate it. Tony: And In our audience and in our lives, we run into people all the time they have a product, they invented something. I know so many people that invented some product in their mind and had to talk about it and they’re great products. What would you say to those? Having an idea, having an invention, what kind of advice can you give to these people? Vince: Well, I think the biggest and best piece of advice I can give is first off, if you’re really passionate about it, if you really believe in it, take the next step so many times, and I’m guilty of it too at times, right. We get excited about we go, wow, that would be amazing if it just this and this tap and or just on, you know, this product existed. I mean everybody would buy one. And I think we all know people that do it. I know I do it, but so many times we stop there and we go, ah, that would be cool, but it’s too hard. It’s going to take too long. And what I try and do is look at problems and think, how could I solve this? Right, how can I figure out how to do that? Maybe do quicker, do it easier, do it faster. And I would encourage folks that have a great idea or a great product to seek out guidance on how they can bring it to market, how they could make it become a reality. Because the truth is, Tony, there are some great books out there that teach you how to just develop a product and then how to license it. And that’s probably an area that maybe some of the audience knows about. Maybe some don’t. But licensing is a great tool and a great model for individuals who don’t per se want to start a company, but they have a unique idea, unique product that they do think the market would pay them for. And you know, if we like we can go into licensing and I can give you a high level how that works. But in so many ways you’re renting your idea to a large company. They put all the, their infrastructure like salespeople, marketing, distribution behind it, and they say, look, for everyone that we sell, we’ll give you x amount of money. And every quarter they send you a check and it’s that simple. And if they don’t hit the number of sales they say, then they give you your idea back and it’s yours and you can take it and try and license it to someone else. But most people don’t have the drive or the wherewithal or even the desire to want to start their own enterprise and build it and try and build a company about the hiring, the accounting, all the legal stuff. They just think they have a great product and they want to make some money off it. So if you are in that situation, you have a new product, a new idea, new invention, something that you’re passionate about that you think the market would love. Take the first step, do some research, find out if it’s out there, looks through different articles about how to launch your product and try and figure out if the market would really pay you for it. Because oftentimes these ventures can be done in months and you can start trying to sell your idea without taking years and years of development, tens of millions of dollars and all the stress and hassle that comes with maybe building a company around a product that you just thought was cool or you can make a few bucks off of. Tony: It’s very interesting and by the way, on maybe the flip side of that, Vince, are you open to any ideas of people may have that help the senior market? Tony: Short answer, Tony, hell yeah ! and I’ll tell you why. First off is I want to find more ways to add value to folks and the funny thing, like anything, right? Any process. I think back, Tony, quick question. When you started your podcast now maybe you had some great guidance, I don’t know if you’d done this before, but I think it’s probably fair to say knowing what you know now, if you had to start again, how much faster could you get the results that you want opposed to the first time you did it? Tony: Oh, there’s no doubt about it. Back then I didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t know anybody in the industry because I came from a different industry. I didn’t know any entrepreneurs or successful people personally. I didn’t know them at all and I had no audience. I had to do everything by the school of hard knocks and I was good at one thing marketing and that’s what I did today. I teach and help podcasters build a world-class podcast. One of my students in two months got 100,000 downloads is absolutely phenomenal. 100,000 that took me six months to get that kind. You know if I knew what I knew now I think I would be dangerous. Vince: Yeah, for sure, for sure. And that’s the way I feel right is developing a product or an idea is a process and like anything, right? Once you have the process you can duplicate it and actually Tony you; I love working with individuals and entrepreneurs just due to the path that I’ve been on. I’ve been having a lot more opportunities present themselves to me and folks come to me with an idea or you know, something that they think would work or make money and as much as I love to be involved with all those ideas, I actually took the initiative to develop an entire program that is the 10 step process to teach somebody who has a great idea how to invent a product and bring it to market. So what I tell them, Tony is go to my website, check out the course. It’s broken down for you an entire overview with the entire process. Then it goes step by step where I lay out every single step that you need to do to bring your product to market. So many times I see individuals go, well, what if I just give you like 30% and you can help me? Well, in all actuality, 30% of an idea is worthless. There’s so much that goes into the execution as you know that I usually tell people, look, I don’t think you should give away any percentage of this great idea you have. Why don’t you just follow this course and start to develop it on your own? Maybe as you get a little later and you need help, maybe selling it or commercializing it, but the prototypes done, the foundations build, etc. Then maybe the timing’s a little bit better. So by all means, I always love to work with folks. I always love to hear ideas, especially for products based around seniors. But really anybody who has that great idea who maybe has a sketch pad at home where they keep all their great idea notes and they think, man, if I could just make one of these work, I would be a millionaire, I’d be rich. Well, in that case, why don’t you check out my program? I can teach you step by step and if at the end of the day you don’t like it, then you didn’t lose much and you’ve got a step by step tutorial with all the good stuff I’ve learned over the years. Broken down for you so you can listen to it. You can rewatch it, relearn it. Tony: This is the Tony DUrso Show just the head. Tony: All right, we’re back on the Tony DUrso Show. Today’s show is with Vince Baiera creator of the Step 2Health Brand. Here’s a quick recap. The Step 2bed is designed to create a pathway of entry into the bed. One review nicely sums it up quote; “The Step 2bed gives my mom the confidence to get in and out of bed by herself” end quote and now back to the chat with Vince. Vince: Take it for yourself. You don’t have to give away equity. You don’t have to split your project, your dream with somebody because the truth of the matter is Tony, I don’t think it’s that complicated of a process. It just needed to be demystified and that’s what I tried to do with my program and you can find that through our own stuff at the Step 2bed site and the Step 2Health site. Tony: I like that, thank you very much. Well, there you go, everyone. If you have an idea, go to step two. That’s the number two step2bed.com and check out this course and see what it would take to develop your idea. There’s a lot of great ideas where here our lives are surrounded by people who had a great idea and went forth and actually did something with it. Everything you have, everything you wear, your car, your computer, everything. Somebody was behind developing it so why not follow through? That’s really great that you do that. You had this heart not just doing it, but you want to help other entrepreneurs by teaching them what to do on this. Vince: Yeah, that’s exactly it. I mean at the end of the day it is a paid course, but I think right now we have it price for like $45 so the cost of around a beer with you and your buddies at the bar, you could get an entire course that gives you the foundation and groundwork to really build something exciting. So I wanted to do it as a way just to again, help more people, but really try and offer an automated way for people to learn. Because the truth is, is many listeners you have, and as many great ideas as I’m sure are out there floating around with the folks joining in his podcasts. I just simply wouldn’t have the time to, to work with every single person. So I thought if I can put it in a program that would run without me, I can still pass along all my secrets, all the tricks I’ve learned, all the little nuances that go into not only developing a product but doing it in months for only thousands of dollars opposed to paying some outside firm or taking two years and getting tired of it halfway through and quitting and losing all that investment. No, let’s just do it fast. Let me show you some of the steps you can do in a day. It’s only a 10 step program, but some of this stuff you can do really, really quickly. So there is some, really cool tips in there that I just love their pass along. And you know, I got to speak on this subject at the national nurses in Business Association conference last year and shared this entire process. And just like you mentioned, a number of folks would come up and, Hey, I’ve got this great idea, but I just don’t know where to start. And I would point them to the program and we’ve seen a number of folks start to go through it and start to really have some great results and develop their own products. So it’s been something I’ve also been proud of because it’s, it’s really allowing folks to take the information and grow with it and not be limited to one person helping them. But just here’s the information, let me just put it in all one simple place and let you take off and run with it and see how far you can go. Tony: That’s great. Well, thank you very much for that. It’s definitely quite something. I think it’s a bit under price, the amount of information that you give that you’ve said. I know, by the way, I have two medical patents as well, which my wife developed and it’s a lot of work and if we knew the steps, if we knew what you know now in your course, we would have been a lot long faster. We’ve got three, four other products. It’s just too much work for us to produce. But that’s a separate story. But we found out through the school of hard knocks what it takes and now that you’ve got it all put together, I urge everyone, check this out, check out the class. It’s very underpriced. So check it out quick before Vince wakes up and changes his mind on this. Vince: I appreciate it, man. Tony: You’re welcome. You’re welcome. I really understand this industry. Not that I’m an ICU nurse like you, but I understand enough of this industry from let’s say very closely connected to it and I really feel for this. My aunt fell in the bathtub, she fell while taking a shower. We need that step 2 the bath. We need these products. I know of people that have fallen and hurt themselves. One of my aunts, another one another and she fell and her husband’s phone, let me think about it for a second. His phone was on mute and she laid there. I’m trying to remember if it was two or four hours and could not get up now. If she had seen your little two and a half minute video, she would have gotten a lot further. She probably would have gotten up, but otherwise, she was totally helpless. She didn’t know what to do is the first time. I think when it happens the first time, it’s a shock. It’s a surprise and it’s just happened to be whether they have, you know, a bad leg or a bad arm or they’re sore, they just can’t get up. And it’s hard for us who are healthy to think about it. But yes, it really is. I have other seniors in my life, if they fell, they need somebody to help them, but this video least gives them some hope and they can realize what that video that you have, that they can actually get up. So we need these products. We really do. I’d like to know, what do you see in the future for senior healthcare products and how do you see the market going in the next couple of years? You know, kind of maybe talk to us a little bit about the future on this. Vince: Well, I think everybody’s aware of the baby boomers, right? There’s about 78 million of them that are moving through. We turn to them as the silver tsunami of people and spending as much time in the senior living industry and then now focusing a lot of the time in that home health and aging in place market it. It’s really interesting if you look at the data, I mean there’s going to be so many products and services that emerge that were never even around before the boomers came. And to give you some context, if you look at the boomers and you watch them all the way through from back in the days when they were infants, you know, Gerber products came out and built a multimillion dollar company on the backs of feeding these boomers through their younger years and the boomers and start to move through that housing market. And we see a huge shift in the housing and schools and the number of schools being built. So there’s always been so many businesses and products that evolve to serve the seniors. And I’m talking about things like VR that we think and are starting to see in so many senior living communities, but even seeing more seniors and older adults at home with their families accepting them. You know, as many products and services as there are out there. Tony, if you have older folks in your life, you probably know they don’t like to switch. They don’t like to change from what they’re used to doing. Even like all of us, you know, we don’t like change. We like it the same way it’s always been. But there are ways that these older folk can start to modify their homes. There are products and tools, medicines, surgical procedures, things that people can do to try and live better for longer. So we’re seeing breakthroughs everywhere from, you know, the surgical instance with new techniques and new abilities due to the technology that’s grown that allow people to have a more effective knee replacement surgery. Well, now I just boosted the length of time that I’m mobile and I’m able to live on my own all because this new breakthrough in technology of knee surgeries and I’m speaking hypothetically about that particular industry, but there’s going to be so many more things that start to evolve. And as much as I could point to products that help with hearing or engagement or reliving your memories or using music therapy or the bevy of options that will be presented, it really just comes down to the industry and trying to have folks spend their attention and their thought process on how to serve this huge silver tsunami of people. Not only because you know, they’re 70, 80 million folks, but also because these are the ones that really need it the most. As you get older, and it sounds like with your aunt, you’ve had this kind of experience. It’s even the simple as products, right? That if maybe she was, had a way to get up, she wouldn’t have had to lay there for two hours. Maybe she was wearing one of those life alert bands. Maybe there’d be a better or more efficient way to have her call for help. So as much as I’d love to point to a single product or a single industry, I think the bigger focus is how do we serve this market better? What kind of solutions are in place today that we can put in place and what kind of technology are we using in completely different fields that actually has applications in the senior living and the home health market to serve all these older folks. So as much as I can talk to you about where the industry’s going, it’s really about how we can serve that industry better and trying to really think creatively because so oftentimes these seniors are forgotten and you know, your grandma, you call and check in once every couple of and unless there is an issue you kind of just go on with your day. And I just try and always think about, look, where do I want to be? What kind of services and amenities and things do I want available to me as I get older? And the truth is father time beats us all. So let’s try and work together so we can provide a great environment for these folks and make every day worth it. So it’s a positive aging experience. Tony: Great. Great answer. Great point of view. So great. This is Vince Baiera creator of the Step 2 Health Brand. You can find out more about him at step2bed.com that’s the number two step2bed.com. Vince is really quite something to have this. You’ve touched upon the entrepreneur, what’s happening in the future with the senior healthcare market, great products to help the seniors. Really Great and insightful interview and when you have something else for seniors or in this space, I’d love to have you back on for an update because this is our life as you mentioned it. For whatever reason, I haven’t figured it out yet why bodies tend to age and as that happens we may need more products to help us so we can enjoy our life and live as best as we can, as well as we can for as long as we can. I believe that that’s, that’s the goal here. And it’s great to have some products that help us. I want to be silly. We have refrigerators, we have computers, we have cell phones. These products help us. And Vince, you’re putting out more products to help us. This is great. We really appreciate it. I really love when you’ve got something good. Please. I want to have you back on for this. Vince: Yeah, I would love that. And you know, I think a quick message to the folks, listening and I know not everybody maybe is in that place of being an entrepreneur or you know, maybe attaining the goals that they’ve set out quite yet. And I just searched folks to go for it. I mean, when I started as a nurse in the business world, let’s just say, I needed some guidance and I found some great mentors, but I work my tail off. I was completely self-taught by this schools of youtube and Google and, and the library and buying books and you know, reading and just committing, right. And trying to work on me. And it goes back to what Jim Rohn says. ‘You don’t need less problems. You simply need more skills.’ And that’s one of the lasting thoughts I’d like to leave folks with just as they think about all the goals and things that they want to develop. Find somebody who’s doing it, look to model them, look to read and learn as much as you can about those particular instances and just freaking go for it, man. You don’t have to wait for somebody to give you permission. You don’t have to wait for somebody to anoint you or to say that it’s all right. It’s going to be scary. It’s not going to be safe, but it’s going to feel good when you accomplish what you set out to. So that’s kind of the mentality I’ve taken and just keep trying to break down every barrier that gets put in front of me. Tony: Very insightful, thank you for those sage words of wisdom. Vince Baiera creator of the Step 2Health Brand get with him and do his course. Check it out. step2bed.com number two, and please everyone check out those videos. It’s going to help someone that you know who’s a senior and it’s like two, two and a half minutes, whatever. Got to check it out. Vince, thank you so much. Really loved it really appreciated this. Vince: Yeah, thanks for your time and glad we got to share a little bit with the audience. Thanks again. Tony: Great. And for my amazing audience, thanks so much for listening.
