Cris:
Hi, Tony. Thanks for having me. It's a pleasure to be here.
Tony:
The honor is mine. I am really looking forward to finding out about how to get more high ticket clients. I think the preponderance of my audience, which is entrepreneurs, small business owners and so forth, we all want, not only more clients, but we want more quality, and for us that means high ticket clients and some people just can't get past a certain amount, whatever that level is. They just can't seem to bust into the next level in terms of what to charge or what to get, and you are a master on this, so I can't wait to find out about it. But before we do, Cris, let's follow your journey to success. How did it all start for you? What's your backstory?
Cris:
Sure. Tony. Thanks. Thanks for the nice introduction. So it started for me 1998, so I've been around for quite some time. I feel like I was like a lot of entrepreneurs. I wanted out of the rat race, and I was consulting, but I was driving and living in San Diego and my commute each way every day was about two hours. I was spending about four hours a day in the car and during those four hours every day, I was always like, man, there's has got be a better way. There's got to be a way to do this from home. Had a baby in 2000. And I was like, all right, I'm making the leap. That's kind of what drove me to make the leap to entrepreneurship, and I found my way online, just a lot of it. Back then, gosh, 20 years ago, it's so different. Back then there were eBooks and you're just a few things here and there, and it's interesting, my very first encounter with really learning online or kind of looking for work from home opportunities or what can I do online, how can I make the transition from a job to entrepreneurship was an eBook put out by one of the legends in this business. And I was really fascinated by not really the content so much, but the fact that I bought this, I don't even know, $10 eBook or something I think was $7, and the fact that I was thinking to myself, wow, this is pretty fascinating. This person created this eBook or this content one time and they just continue to sell it again and again and again and again and again, so they never have to do the work and they're getting paid. So that kind of lit my fire. I was like, there's not many opportunities out there in the world where you can do something once and be paid forever and ever. So that's sort of what got me going in the space. and from that point I was like, okay, what skills do I have? What am I good at? What am I good at? What have I been doing that I'm successful at, and how can I apply that? How can I bring it online? And for the few years leading into that, we were - my husband and I. He was a sportscaster at the time for ABC - and we had a side business where we were flipping houses and a lot of my friends, colleagues, associates were like, are you doing that? How's that go and how's it working? How do you do that? What are the steps? Who do you contact? All of these things, and I was talking to a mentor of mine and he said, you should come join me at a Learning Annex event and you should speak at this event and share your story with people. And after that I probably had 10 to 15 emails asking me, how'd you do it? What did you do? And this gentleman said to me, you should create a course. You should have a coaching program. And I was like, that's interesting. That's kind of like that eBook thing I just saw. And there you go. That's how my segue into the online world happened. Interesting, right?
Tony:
That is very interesting. Now take that and let's go into what you've created. How did you come about that vision for what you're doing now? I get that this was the seed that started it, but you went far beyond that. How did that come about?
Cris:
Absolutely. So we took that first. I did it actually indeed. My first product that I created for myself was a real estate investment type product, and we were teaching people to do exactly what we had done. And it's interesting we took that actual product and we turned it into live events. We turned it books, we turned it into infomercials, we turned it into seminars, we turned it into speaking opportunities. All of these great things came from reading this one book, one program, all of these things. And back then, it was pretty fascinating because we didn't even have social media. Back in the day, I think a few years in MySpace came out and that was cool, but it wasn't something like we know social media today. It was so different. It wasn't really something we never paid for ads or what have you. All we have is Google ad words. So how we got business was speaking at someone else's event or coming onto someone else's webinar. Webinars were all the rage back then and they're still popular, but back then we'd speak to a webinar audience of 200 or 300 people and that's how those people would get exposure. We'd speak at someone else's live event and that's how they get exposure. But all of these opportunities came from just creating a product once. Because of the product started, I started doing coaching. People were asking for more than we started doing one on one. I started doing buying tours, I started doing live events and workshops. So this one product that we created, created these other opportunities and this one book that we'd created and marketed on an infomercial gave us other opportunities. So fast forward, I built that business to a multi-million-dollar business. I sold it in 2010. I left and started a brick and mortar online business, kind of followed my passion into the health space and built that and sold that about 3, 3 1/2 years ago and I came back to this world and it's really funny when I came back to this space, the really cool thing, I think what drives me every day and what brought me back was the location, freedom, and at the time independence that this offers us. So the fact that I can create content, I can get clients, I can work from anywhere that I have a laptop and a cell phone, which is pretty amazing to me because as a mom of three girls and I'm involved in my church. I love to travel. So all these outside hobbies and I really wanted to build a second time around, actually this will be my third go round, right? So I built and sold two companies. I wanted to build my business around my life versus my life around my business like I had done before. And when it came back into the space a lot of people were saying, how did you do it? How did you start one location and build it to 230? How did you start with one client and end up with 155,000 clients on the online world? How does that happen? How did that happen? So when I came back, I thought, I'm going to teach people how we get clients, because the biggest need for anybody, whether you're online, offline, what have you is clients. So whether you're an author, speaker, coach, an expert, an entrepreneur of any kind, everybody wants clients and everybody wants quality clients, high ticket clients and they want to be paid what they're worth. So that kind of prompted me when I came back, I thought, where's the gap I can fill? Because there's so many now with social media, right? I came back and I said, wow, Facebook ads, Instagram ads, and YouTube ads. Wow, this is like a whole different world. There's so many "experts", you really have to search for the needle in the haystack and find the people that resonate with you and your message and what you're trying to accomplish and where you are and where you want to go. And as I've gotten older, I no longer chasing the money. It's more about the fulfillment that I get from this helping and coaching people and the impact. Having impact as an entrepreneur, leaving a legacy, building something that I'm proud of and that my kids are proud of, and that's really what it's about for me now. I'm 46 and I've made the money now, but it's like I really just want to do something that sets my soul on fire. So we decided to help people, teach people how we built these businesses. How we did it, because even the offline business was built online. We got all of our clients online, all of our marketing dollars are spent online. So we show people how to create something, how to monetize it, whether it's a high ticket coaching program or they have a book and they're like, how do I monetize this book? I've got a great message, I've got a great offer. How do I monetize it? So we teach them how to create something great, and then how to find the high ticket clients and price it accordingly to be paid what they're worth, and then how to go out and find those high ticket clients. And some of those methods, Tony, are organic and some of them are paid. So we kind of show them exactly what's worked for 20 years. What does work, what doesn't work, what's the fastest path, the mistakes that we made, the things we learned from and that sort of thing. So fast forward 20 years and here we are. So it's fun. It's been a great journey.
Tony:
Cris, I'm spellbound. This is absolutely amazing. Over 150,000 clients and you've built such a huge business. What's your purpose for this? Why did you want to do this? What was the reason for you to get up every day and put this all together?
Cris:
Well, I've got three kiddos, three girls. I'll be honest Tony, I had a couple of jobs in my lifetime and in these jobs even as a kid, as an entrepreneur, as a young kid, I was like, I just don't feel like it's just not congruent. It's not authentic to me. I'm working for someone, I'm making money, but I never loved it. You know, I felt like seriously, like one of those people that ... it took me till I was like 30 to figure out what I wanted to be when I grow up. You know what I mean? I didn't have it all figured out so the one thing I want for my girls is to be an example. I want to show them the power of entrepreneurship and what's possible, and you can build your own life, because the best thing you can talk all day long to your kids, but if you don't lead by example, they're kind of like, yeah, yeah, mom. Okay, whatever. So I wanted to be an example. I wanted to show them how we built this life that we have and how we are able to go on family vacations and do the things that we do, and you have the things you have because we created basically our own destiny. You know what I mean? We set a goal and we set our mind to it and we made it happen. And I think a lot of people, they want that, but they just don't know the path yet there, and I want to empower people. I want to have a positive impact, but I want to also empower them to be able to make a choice. It's nice in life when you have choices. If you don't want to work a job and you're unhappy, change it.
Tony:
Absolutely spellbinding. Very amazing. Do your kids really get what's going on, or is it like, oh, this is just what all kids do and it's natural? Do they understand the success that they're going to be actually probably working in in the future?
Cris:
They do. I think the older ones get it. I have a 10 year old who... she's still kind of shy. She's in fifth grade, but it's funny to me. She'll do little things like make these little bracelets and then one day she came home, she said, I sold 11 of them at school. And I was like, Oh. I knew she was making them, but I didn't know she was selling them. I said, well, where's the money? How much did you charge? And she'd given it to Mission India, which was super cool. It made my heart swell. I was like, Oh my baby. She's doing good for she gave it all back. She said there's a lot of kids, we talk about it at school, these kids in India that don't have shoes or houses and she's like, I gave it to them so they could have more money and more food. It made my heart swell and I thought, that's the kind of kid I was. I was the kid making fans out of leaves and putting yarn around them and selling them for a dime. You know what I mean? I'm not so sure that I was giving my money back to somebody at that point. I didn't really have that model or that example in my life, but it makes me think, wow she kind of gets it, you know.

Tony:
All right. We're back on the Tony DUrso Show where you can learn from the wisdom and success of others to help you move on your vision path. Let's see what we can learn today. Today's show is about getting more high ticket clients with Cris Cawley. At the end of this interview I'll give you a summary of what I got out of this and I'll share some pointers with you. Stay tuned for that. Cris has featured on many stages alongside some of the world's most sought after speakers, influencers and thought leaders, and she has a special passion for helping others figure out and profit from the internet marketing and high ticket coaching maze. All right, and now back to the chat with Cris.
Cris:
My older two - I have one in college and one in high school - and recently it's funny, she just went to college. My oldest just went to college and she was going to be a physical therapist and she got into this and she said, I've only been at college a semester, but it's so regimented. It's so in a box. It's like you go to work every day at 9, you get off at 5 and these are the things you're going to do. And she's like, if I did this, I'd want to own my own clinics. And it's funny. Literally two weeks later she said, Mom, I'm changing my career. I'm changing my major to marketing. I'm going to be a digital marketer. I'm going to be an online consultant. I'm going to do what you do. And I was like, Oh my gosh. How cool, cause I do think they see that, it affords them... I mean we have a great lifestyle, but it's not just that. It's not about that. I think it's the freedom. I never miss my kid's basketball game. I never miss a dance recital or a volleyball game. I don't miss anything with my kids. More importantly, I've taught them that the location freedom and the time freedom, the location independence, I guess I should say, and the time freedom, that being an entrepreneur in any sense or any fashion affords us, that's really what we're after because a lot of people in the beginning, they think it's money, but it's not really the money you're after. You're after the time freedom and the independence that this kind of lifestyle affords you. And then when money is no longer an issue, I like to dive deep people and see what's your passion? If money weren't an issue, what would you do? What would you do with your time? Would you sit on your couch and watch Netflix all day, or would you go build a well in Africa for people that don't have clean water? You know, people are good. There's a lot of good people in the world. I like to think that everybody has something deep inside of them, like a passion or something that wow, that would be so cool. They just don't know how to make those dreams happen. I think people focus on where they are and they know where they want to be, but it's like they don't even really think outside of their box because, well, this is my reality. So a lot of what they do I feel is mind-set too. Just changing people's beliefs in their own selves and what's possible. I was on welfare when I was a kid, you know what I mean? So I came from nothing and I built this great life and it wasn't a job. It wasn't from something my parents didn't teach me. I had no business skills, no nothing. So I'm thinking to myself, if I'm a woman and I can do this, anything is possible. And if more so than anything, I teach my girls that. I want them to know that the sky's the limit. Anything you set your mind to you can do, and now more so than ever, Tony, I feel like the tools, the resources, the apps, the technology that we have, it's easier than ever. Yes, it's a specific skill set and knowledge that you have to learn how to apply, but it's not difficult. Just like how you learned to do anything else. You learn it or you delegate it and it's pretty amazing what can come from it.
Tony:
This is Cris Cawley. Get more high ticket clients and you can find her at criscawley.com and I'm going to spell that. C-R-I-S-C-A-W-L-E-Y.com. Criscawley.com. Cris, let's get into your vision path here. You have so many clients. Who do you spend most of your time impacting these days? You work on solopreneurs, you work on small business owners, you work on celebrities. What takes up your time?
Cris:
Absolutely. So I would say, 90% of our client base are coaches, authors, and speakers. So many times too when I say coach, sometimes we'll have someone who's an expert at something, and they've got this message, they've got this process, and they just don't know how to monetize it. And out of that process, we've had a lot of athletes or celebrities or ex-athletes that are like, hey, now I've got these skills when I'm done playing basketball, or I'm done playing football. Now what? What are my skill sets? What am I good at? What am Ian expert at? Or you'll have someone who says like, Hey, I gave a TED talk and I did this awesome thing and it was so well received and it was amazing. People loved it, but how do I monetize that message? Or, hey, I wrote a book, but I'm not making millions of dollars. I don't know why they think that, but a lot of times people write a book with this great expectation that they're going to make all this money, and it's really the back end platform where you have more impact. The book has started the authority positioning pool and the back end coaching program, or the mentoring or the speaking or what have you, that's where you're impacting the lives. So it's really those are the people in a nutshell that we deal with on a daily basis. I really enjoy it. I love all of my clients and I love the diversity of what I do.
Tony:
I've interviewed so many coaches and people that have created online classes and courses and so many authors. Most of my shows are that audience and a lot of them, you know Cris as you know only too well, they seem to struggle. They seem to have a hard time. I've interviewed a lot of very successful people, but there's so many I meet at events, they're still trying to figure out how to scale their business. They're trying to put things together and it almost sounds like an infomercial, but you're so good at helping put these people up and getting them going. For example, let's take it from here. What do you find is the biggest reason that they're even struggling?
Cris:
Well, a lot of people, I believe that the biggest reason I think is clarity. I think a lot of people don't have... they have a vision, they have a goal and they're saying, this is where I am, this is where I'd like to go. They just don't have the clarity on how to get there. Or in another instance, they have an offer - this is what they sell or what they coach on or clients they serve. It's a great offer they're giving to the world, but they don't do a great job sometimes at the messaging. So what I mean by that is how that value of what they do is translated to the world. So they have this great offer and they're taking it most of the time to the right audience, but that messaging, that value is lost in how it's translated. So many times, in some cases it's repositioning the offer. And we're like, yeah, we're going to take you from charging you $100 an hour to sell your $10,000 package. And people are like, Oh my gosh, I could never do that. I can't even sell $100 eBook. I know you can do that. It's just positioning. It's authority positioning. There's a lot of steps that go into it, but typically, it's clarity, offer, messaging, and then sometimes honestly they have this great message and a great offer and they're just taking it to the wrong people, the wrong audience and they don't, where to find the people who are interested in what I have. So the hang up always falls into one of those four categories.
Tony:
That's quite something. Cris, you have a lot of classes that help entrepreneurs learn how to scale their business, develop packages. I know you've got several books and several packages. Tell us about some of what you offer and how some of these can actually help the members of the audience.
Cris:
Sure, you bet. Well, our main coaching program, our flagship program is just helping speakers, authors, coach. Sometimes they've written a book, sometimes they've done a speech, sometimes they have a product maybe that isn't selling or a course, and we help them develop a digital course and/ or high ticket program. Everything from soup to nuts. Literally from the idea all the way to the end funnels, the marketing, all of it. The most recent thing we've worked on is - I have so many clients, Tony, literally thousands of requests over the years - I want to write a book. How do I write a book? And the writing of book thing is really amazing, but it's not like you write a book and you make millions of dollars. You make 10, 15, 20% royalties and the book is really used for credibility. Where the money's made is the back-end. Either the speaking on the back end or the coaching or the course, so the book should lead them through that, for lack of a better word, that funnel, if you will, or that ladder of... the book is the bottom of the ladder. And then of course we have got coaching. We have live events and take them through that path. It should pull someone through that path. So we've actually started a publishing program or publishing company where we're pulling people through that process and helping them get their book in all the bookstores and press and nationwide press and all this good stuff. It's like feel good, warm and fuzzy. Great. I'm a published author. Hey, that's the tip of the iceberg. That's not where it stops. With most traditional publishers, that's where it stops. With us, we help you develop that whole entire back end platform. So it's a much different world. And people know that.
Cris:
How to put pieces together. So that's been a super amazing fun project. It's been great. It's been a wonderful, fun ride because I never realized how many people have a message inside of them they just want to share with the world. And they're like, this is great. And for some writing the book is enough. They're like, wow, I wrote a book. I'm a published author. But for most they want to monetize it. So we show them the real way to do that. Kind of the easiest way to do that where you're taking years off of your learning curve.
Tony:

Today's show is about getting more high ticket clients with Cris Cawley. At the end of this interview, I'll give you a summary of what I got out of this and I'll share some pointers with you. Stay tuned for that, and now back to the chat with Cris.
Tony:
What I really like about that, Cris, is I've interviewed so many authors, as I've mentioned. It's not just writing the book, but you've spent so much time writing that book. You've put your love into it, and then as you say, okay, I'm a published author. Okay, great. Maybe sell 100, maybe sell 200 copies or whatever. But it's that idea. It's that whole plan. It's that strategy of class, of coaching, of speaking and so forth that actually takes that idea that you've put your hard earned love into - kind of a weird concept - but the hard earned love, your passion, you've put that into your book. Well now you can actually make it into a career. When I first started my first book, I didn't think of that totally that way, and now I've been mentored by so many and I speak to so many great successful people such as you. It's a whole different paradigm. So I highly recommend to anyone the book is not the end. It's really the beginning. You spent all this time putting together a good book. You've self-published probably more than likely. In this day and time, you can self-publish pretty easily, but it's getting that now into a class, in a course into something. I mean 150,000 clients. Learn from someone that has such success is what I say, and really check this out and go to Criscawley.com. I think your other site is getmorehighticketclients.com. Either way you can find out more about this and just really expand that strategy. As you all know in the audience, I'm all about the vision and your strategy and your purpose and this is part of it. If you want to scale, you can take one idea and make it so good with items and courses and classes that it supports you and your family for the rest of your life. I've seen it over and over and over. So, even though you may have just one book, I also want to say don't just think that you need more, because it starts with one book and from there you're definitely going to write more. There's no doubt about it.
Cris:
Yeah, and you're building a business, Tony. You're building... That book, we position it as everything we do, we're building them a business. So it's the book, it's the back end. A course can come from that. It can turn into coaching. It can be a speaking platform, but we're building that entire backend out. So literally they have a business at the end, something that's long-term, it's sustainable. We can go and duplicate that process with other subject matter. That's something that's more appealing once they realize. I had a guy last month, he came to me and he wrote 37 books and he made like $20,000 last year. And I was like, oh gosh, you know what I mean? Like 37! Can you imagine the work that's gone into that? But nobody ever had guided him. He didn't know any better to drive them. And he's like, what would I drive them to? I don't have anything else. I just have my book. So it's just kind of an old way to a new way. It's a different way to look at it. There's a lot of ways to do something right, but this is just something that we want to set people up for success in the long-term.
Tony:
Cris, I've put you up on a pedestal in this interview so far and I think very highly of you, but I know that there's so much more you're going to do in the future, but just to kind of put things on the ground, you wanted me to ask you. Tell us something you're not very good at.
Cris:
Oh gosh. I'm not very good at a lot of things. It's so funny. My work is where I thrive. My clients and my coaching and such is where I thrive, but I just want to people to realize that I'm not on a pedestal. I'm just a normal girl. I don't look at myself like I'm better than anybody. I'm not different than anybody. I don't have any skill sets that anybody else listening to this to had. There's a lot of things. I think one of the big things in this business is when people get into the computer/ online world, they're like, all that tech stuff. Guess what? I'm horrible at tech. I've learned things like click funnels and things like that out of necessity for my business. But much of it I delegate, and when I discovered sites like Upwork and Fiverr, I was like, wow, I can delegate to someone else who already knows how to do that. I don't have to learn how to do it. Those little sites were like my best friends when I first got started, but I just wanted to show people that I don't ever want someone to think, well, yeah, she's done this because she's done this or she's special. I'm not special. I'm no different than anybody else out there. I'm just a normal girl from Missouri who kind of figured out this internet marketing maze, and I want to give back and share with other people. So I'm horrible at tech and there's a lot of things I'm not good at, Tony. But I love to share. I love to teach. I love to coach. I've embraced the things I'm good at and I've got self-confidence because I know I've produced results. And even when I didn't produce results in the beginning, when I didn't know how to produce results, I took a chance and I thought, you know what? I'm going to do everything I can to get this client a result. And I did. So you just kind of have to embrace your strengths, ignore your weaknesses and go after what you want, because I think a lot of people listen to these podcasts for these interviews and they, Oh yeah, but she's different. She's got this, or Oh yeah, Tony's got her background in this and he already know, and that's not the case. I don't want people to do that. I don't want people to think that there's nothing that you or I have, they don't have. It doesn't take a whole lot to get started. There's a lot of different opportunities at different levels, and I just want to see people pursue their passion and be happy, live a good life. We only get one, so I want to make the best of it.
Tony:
Cris, I believe that one of your biggest strengths is that you are spiritual. Your churchgoing as you mentioned earlier, and I believe God is being very good with you and he's blessing you with this. So I think you actually have some extra help, let's call it from the very top to be so successful in what you do.
Cris:
I do. But I have a lot of gratitude too, Tony. I think a lot of what God gives us is, you know, we were given these gifts and we were meant to go out into the world and use them. But I think a lot of what that comes back to me is the good comes back and it continues to manifest because I'm super grateful and I thank God every day for everything - the knowledge and just the wisdom and the ability to do what I do every day. I'm so grateful every single day. And I'm so incredibly blessed and I passed that on to my kids too. Just letting them know that you don't take anything for granted ever. So I think that's a big part of it.
Tony:
Absolutely. And you are blessed on that. Cris, what's the future hold for you? What are you looking to accomplish in the next few years?
Cris:
It's funny, there's a lot of things. I run into so many amazing people every month. I work with some amazing people. There's a lot of really cool things and I still have kids at home, two kids at home, so it's not like that. I don't get to travel as much as I want, but a lot of my work, like we've developed this high ticket mastermind that we're going to do The Bahamas. I'm thinking, if we're going to do a mastermind, let's do it somewhere fun. Let's go somewhere sunny and tropical and be on a beach and have fun, that sort of thing. So that's something that we're launching. I've had them in the past, but I've always done it like in a hotel room and that doesn't appeal to me these days. If I'm going to learn, I'd rather go, Hey, let's all go sit in a hammock on the beach somewhere and talk business. So that's kind of something that is coming up. It's in the works and I don't know what else. I get a lot of different things thrown at me. Little partnership opportunities, different ideas, different thoughts. Never say never to anything. I'm not really sure. Right now I'm really content with what I'm doing. I'm incorporating a little more travel. I don't want to do live events anymore, but like a mastermind a couple of times a year might make me really happy. So incorporate the work and blend the work and the fun and the family all together, that's kind of fun. So who knows? The sky's the limit. Lots of great opportunities all around us every day if we're open to receiving them and just open minded.
Tony:
Absolutely. And with the success that you have, I know that your masterminds are going to be absolutely incredibly successful. So to anyone going there that's listening to this, make sure you're on board, get in there and it's just going to be good cause Cris really knows her stuff. Those of us that are not going to your mastermind but we would love to, we still want to know and learn more from you. So perhaps maybe you could share some personal habits that contribute to your vision success.
Cris:
Sure. You mean in terms of vision or actual business? Actual steps that they are taking in their business?
Tony:
What you have put together to actually create a success. You had this vision, you had this purpose, you went out there and you've built it and built it. What are those habits that actually help you build it and help you grow that into the success you are and beyond?
Cris:
I think overall Tony, back in the day I was a big fan of the mind mapping software, and kind of mapping everything out. I'm a strategy girl, I'm organized and most people aren't that. But I think having a grand plan or a strategy overall, looking at it big picture from a 30,000 foot view, like I'd like to write a book and on the back end of that book, I like coaching or not. So maybe it's a digital course because I don't, and then putting that out there or strategizing. Putting it into something written. I was always told when I was young, more like teenage and college, write your goals down. Yeah, okay. Honestly, I've learned as I've gotten older - I'm 46 years old - there's nothing more important because that kind of brings clarity to what we're going after. This is where I am, this is where I would like to be, and then how would I like to get there? What would I love? Again, if money weren't an object, how would I like to spend my time making money? Do I want to be a coach? Do I want to write a book? Do I want to travel the world, whatever that is. So mapping that out with even something like lucid chart or any type of like mapping software, even in a Google doc for goodness sakes. I mean it could be anything like that, but mapping it out and then getting clarity, because that seems to be the biggest thing when I talk to people, the clarity. What's my purpose or what's my path or I'm an expert at this but I don't know how to monetize it? Don't know how to make money at it. So that helps people get clear. So getting clarity and then I think confidence comes into this a lot, because I coach a lot of people who are making six figures but they just can't get to seven figures, or they are at seven but they just can't get to eight. So a lot of it I feel like is mind-set, which is kind of crazy cause I'm not on mind-set, but I know some of the things that have helped me in my habits, my daily habits, one of those things being very conscious of my time and how I spend my time. There's all these time management exercises you can find online because a lot of times, everybody we talk to on a daily basis, Oh I'm so busy, I'm so busy. But I get 700 emails a day. I can be busy just checking email. But those habits don't help me be successful. Does it really contribute to my bottom line? Me checking email? How does that affect my family? Does that put food in my kiddos mouth? No. So I'm very cognizant of how I'm spending my time and I try to spend 80% of my time on the things that really matter. You've heard of the Peter Principle or the 80/20 rule? So 20% of the activities we do are responsible for 80% of our income and our livelihood and the outcome. So I flip it on its backside and I try to spend 80% of my time doing things that I know. When I wake up every day and I said, here's my calendar, here's what I have to do. I want to make sure that the stuff that I was spending the majority of my time on is something that's adding to my bottom line, and that doesn't necessarily mean money. It can mean spiritually. It could mean my family. It can mean impact toward others, giving back, doing good. I just want to make sure that these are my goals. I want to have fun, I want to make money, I want to do good things, give back. Are those activities that I'm doing bringing me closer to that goal? And even that awareness, Tony brings just a lot of clarity to the process. Then one other thing I would say is they have all these different strength finders tests, personality tests and things. For me, and again, I don't think there's any one favorite. I've taken all of them, but those tests brought a lot - and you can take them for free on many websites online. But those tests brought a lot of, if you're honest when you take those tasks and you put down your honest answers and you’re really true to yourself, it brings a lot of awareness to who you are, what you're good at. You might be good at something, but you might hate it. Well, if you're not passionate about it, you don't like it, that's no fun. Who wants to do something every day that they hate? So it helps make you hyper aware of how you are, how others are, how you treat people, what you want in life, your strengths, your weaknesses, so I feel like that's something else. Those two things have made massive shifts in my clients' futures since some of the things just in their basic business and I'm talking about people who've done seven figures a month and they get stuck. Just like the people who make a hundred thousand dollars a year, you get stuck. Everybody gets stuck at some point or another. So those are a few of the things that have helped me and helped my clients make shifts and kind of get over the plateau and get over the hump, and of course just being grateful for seeing the glass as half full at the end of the day.
Tony:
Thank you so much for sharing that. I know we've mentioned a couple, you've mentioned a couple of resources here and I just want to focus at closing sort of to go over any great resources that you would like to see that our audience visionaries share and use to grow their business.
Cris:
Sure. Just in terms of general websites, so to speak, that they could use to grow their business?
Tony:
Well, one of the things you mentioned was using Upwork and Fiverr, which I think are amazing resources because you can get so much done by outsourcing and having people create your banners or help with templates or writing emails or whatever. Tony:
All right. We're back on the Tony DUrso Show where you can learn from the wisdom and success of others to help you move on your vision path. Let's see what we can learn today. Today's show is about getting more high ticket clients with Cris Cawley. At the end of this interview, I'll give you a summary of what I got out of this and I'll share some pointers with you. Stay tuned for that. Founder of Game Changer Press and Get More High Ticket Clients, in her spare time Cris enjoys spending time with family and traveling. And now back to the chat with Cris. What do you think are some great resources that you would love to see our audience know about?
Cris:
Aside from those, and again those are great resources because they do help you delegate because a lot of people get scared away from the online world or think they can't make a living online because of, well, I'm not a tech. I don't know how to do that. I don't know how to build a website. I don't know how to do this. And it's really not stuff that you... I didn't know how to build a website either when I started. And even to this day, I think I have lots of clients who never touch a website and they have very successful businesses. So the outsourcing of websites is great. Fiverr or Upwork or Free up is a great one with threes. That's a great one too. So those types of things. Also things like Click Funnels, tools that help us get there faster. I use Click Funnels. I've got 500 and something clients in there alone just from growing their businesses or a place to start, because essentially when you're first starting out, even just having a landing page and there's a lot of different options you can use. I just found that that one is my tool of choice. I love it. It works. It helps me get from point A to point B and it helps me get clients, which is the bottom line. So we use Click Funnels in our business every day and love it. That's another one that I would say. Maybe a simple calendar scheduling software? Remember back in the day we would do webinars and we do trainings and we were selling stuff directly through webinars, and we've really gotten away from that because when you're selling high ticket - when I say high ticket, I mean things that are $3000, $5000, $1000, $25000, whatever, anything about that $3000 mark - it's pretty difficult to just have a webinar and then tell somebody to whip their credit card out and pay five grand online. That doesn't happen. It's really about, and I think something that will never go out of date, never go out of style is the relationship. It's really about relationship. And so we actually use that call scheduling software like Callum, like a scheduling software, not a call scheduling, but this is a calendar, calendly.com or their schedule one arm or Acuity. There's all these different ones, but having something like that to set up times for people call them discovery sessions or strategy sessions or whatever. We really look at it as an inner, and I look at it and I say, okay, this is where this person is. It's a chance for me to talk to you, get to know, you, look at where you are, look at where you're looking to go, and map out that path to get there. And if that path is something that I can help you with and I know that on the other side I can get you the result or the transformation you're looking for, it's a good fit. But those scheduling software, again, a lot of people still don't use that. They're trying to sell it online or just shove it down peoples' throats and it's really not about that. And when you're selling higher price items, it comes back to the relationship and the trust and the rapport that you build with somebody, and that will never go away. Nothing will. No software will ever take the place of relationship. So I would say maybe integrating that into your business model if it's not something that you're already doing. Just having that scheduling, something where you schedule things with people and set up times to chat to see if it's a good fit. Those are kind of some of the main things and the main shifts. It's so different, 20 years ago we weren't doing any of these things and now these are all software that, gosh, I don't know what I would do without them.
Tony:
Absolutely brilliant. Once again, this is Cris Cawley. Get more high ticket clients. You can find her at Criscawley.com. Cris, thank you so much for sharing and opening up and showing us how we can get to the next level wherever we are, whether we were not making a hundred K a year or whether we are making seven and we can't get eight. You've provided so much information and just a wealth of knowledge here you've shared with us. Thank you so much for hanging out with us.
Cris:
Thank you. I thank you for having me. I really enjoyed it. I love to help people, impact people and to share the message and so thank you again for the opportunity. I really enjoyed it.
Tony:
To my visionary audience, thanks for hanging out with me while I featured an elite entrepreneur who took her vision to reality. I hope this was as inspiring for you as it was for me to do this interview. I learned so much. So many great insights. How did you like this interview about getting more high ticket clients with Cris Cawley? Did you get some immediate and great ideas on this right off the bat? I did. If you're good at anything, have you thought about putting together an eBook and providing your information to tons of people? Now, some of you may already be doing that or trying that, and some of you may not see it as easy as others. I know. I've been there, tried that a bunch of times and that is until I learned about funnels. Check out the commercial I did just earlier about getting Russell's book for free. This stuff funnels really works in a big, big way. You just have to learn some of the nuts and bolts and apply yourself. I can't stress it enough on how fast you can build your empire. It just takes working out your vision path, which I talk about here and there. Cris has it completely together on how to get high ticket clients and teaches all the pieces you need for this. I urge you to connect with her and speed up your learning on the path. I love how Cris gets the time freedom to do what she wants to attend all functions for her kids. It's not about money. She's gone way beyond that. She pushed through and became independent way. Way cool. I hope you're getting all of this as to what is really possible for you. If you're struggling, guess what? Virtually everyone struggles at some point. I think this is how you learn to pull through and make it in your field. It's by keeping on and keep pushing through that you eventually make success. You know that. If any of your favorite sports heroes quit early, well, they wouldn't be your favorite anymore, right? Everyone has to push to get what they want. The world is not free to anyone. It really isn't. Now, once you climb that hill of success, the cool thing is that you made it to the top of that hill and you own it. That's what's so great about it. 90% of Cris's client base are coaches, authors, and speakers. Now, if you're an entrepreneur, if you're a small business owner, if you're a corporate level exec, then you surely must be a coach, author, and speaker. You can't avoid it these days. That's how I know that Cris has something that can help take you to the next higher level. I'm positive. There's so much more I got out of this interview. What did you get? I'd love to know how you use this information to help you in your business or career. Tell us. Tell the world you can tweet me at Tony DUrso. All right guys, now grab hold of your vision. Decide you're either going to start something great or take it to the next level. You know this. You have to decide first. It always starts with a decision and you can get my vision map to help you along the process. The free eBook is at tonydurso.com. I created my empire just a few years. That's all it took.
